Amongst the madness of the VAMFF shows we went backstage with a few of our favourite VAMFF models to talk fashion week, Melbourne hot spots and why they love Australian labels. After the close of the runway events Carol Zhu, Sarah Burns, Brooke Durrant, Kawani Prenter, Amber Price, Mairead McGovern and Talisa Quirk gave us an insight into the girls of the runway.

@carolzhu_ : My top tip would have to be staying hydrated. During the madness of fashion shows you can sometimes neglect your health, so I always make sure to drink plenty of water. It's also the key to glowing skin.

@sarahaburns: My top tips are have a good night’s rest after each show, you should definitely go to the after parties but stay well behaved because you have to be fresh for the next day. Also buy a box of Band-Aids because you are guaranteed to get lots of blisters on your feet!

@brookedurrant: I’m currently obsessed with rose water face mists, Lancôme advanced génifique serum and of course the holy grail micellar water!

@kawaniprenter: For skin care I’ve been using Clinique face wash and moisturiser, my favourite makeup product would be the Giorgio Armani silk skin foundation - 2 of my obsessions lately

@_amberprice: A pair of black slides, denim shorts/skirt and a white linen shirt with a light jacket is my go to.

@carolzhu_ : My go-to off duty look would have to be ripped mum jeans with my favourite tee tucked in. White sneakers and a leather jacket. A leather jacket dresses anything up.

@mairead_mcg: I love to work with Australian labels because I get to represent the talented and creative designers and help bring their work to life and also have the opportunity to get to know them on a personal level, which always makes a job fun and interesting.

@brookedurrant: I think it’s super inspiring seeing home grown labels tackle the wild fashion industry. I feel that Aussie’s love to support Aussie’s and we love to see each other succeed, so to be part of a show or a shoot with an Australian label is really exciting and gratifying. You become a family.

@talisa_quirk: I've been to Melbourne only a handful of times for work but I love the hidden treasures you can find down any small alleyway, all those cafes that just pop up out of nowhere. It's half the adventure of getting to the cafes that Melbourne has over any city!

@sarahaburns: I’m a very casual girl so a good pair of boyfriend jeans and a tee are my go-to but I might dress it up with a cute pair of boots to add a little something.
